Cambridge Ice Arena Construction Update
It’s been quite an eventful time on site since the ground-breaking ceremony in November last year.
Only 2 days from completing the reduced level dig when a piece of unexploded ordinance was hit. Turned out to be a SIP grenade – a milk bottle-type devise used by the Home Guard in WWII as an incendiary device.
After the Army disposed of the immediate risk the specialist contractor cleared the affected area. Now, in the second week of the New Year and another 193 SIPs later, the dig can start again in earnest.
Let’s hope this is the last delaying event. Every effort will now be made to get back on track for the opening this autumn.
