  1. Great idea, looking forward to it.

One request – please provide a usable handrail around the rink, my kids find it very helpful to gain confidence as they learn. The one in Peterborough doesn’t have this – they fitted glass on top with no space left to get a grip – and as a result my kids don’t want to go skating there.

    Thanks.

    1. Thank you for your comment Graham. The short answer is yes but there will be skating coaches offering lessons and likely that a NISA skate training programme will run at the facility. Kind Regards, Adam

      1. Surely there can’t be a handrail around the boards if the rink is itended to be used for Ice Hockey? Surely skating aids such as Penguins would be better.

      2. Hi Adam, thanks for your comment. As the Arena will facilitate hockey there will not be a handrail. There will however be plenty of skating aids to assist beginner skaters. Kind Regards, CIA

      3. Will there also be provision for more experienced skaters? For example our daughter is currently working on Field Moves 3 in the NISA programme.

      4. Hello Anne. Thank you for your comment. Our vision for the Cambridge Ice Arena is that it will be a venue for all skaters at all different levels, with provisions for beginners and experienced skaters across a number of activities. Once the Operator of the Arena has been agreed all the comments from the website, and other mediums (such as social media) will be passed on to them so they can facilitate what is needed at the rink. Thanks, CIA

  2. I hope the construction is underway. Would it be possible to have news updates? Good luck and have you an opening date? I would like to enquire there.

    1. Hello Peter, thank you for your comments, apologies for the delay in getting back to you. Regarding a previous comment we are still in negotiations with potential operators, CLIC are keen to include as many ice sports that the public demand.

We are hopeful that construction will start in the New Year, we will know better about an opening date once construction is on-going. Updates will be available on our website, Facebook and Twitter.

      Kind Regards, CIA

  3. Hello. Will ice hockey players be consulted about their requirements? For example dressing rooms, shower facilities etc?

Is there an update as to when construction will begin?

  4. Is the arena only for Ice sports or are there other indoor hall facilities on site or potentially a hard floor cover for the rink?

      1. The ‘area for general functions, parties and the like’ will that be a sports hall with court markings or just a function room?

      2. Hi Kevin – it will be a function space separate to the ice rink; the operator has yet to decide what the space will be used for. Regards, CIA

Also will there be an opportunity for there to be Figure Skating Competitions when the rink is up and running?
